Our events bring students and the community together through hands-on activities like composting workshops, environmental education, and plant sharing. Each event is a chance to learn, help the planet, and build a stronger community together. Everyone is welcome to join us and be part of the change.
Green4Better Compost Learning Visit - 3/6/2026
As part of the Green4Better project, students will participate in a hands-on learning visit to observe a real composting site and learn how organic waste can be transformed into nutrient-rich soil.
During this visit, students will gain an introduction to the composting process, including how natural decomposition works and how organic materials such as food scraps and plant waste can become valuable resources for plant growth.
This experience marks the first step of our project, allowing students to learn through observation and participation. By seeing the composting process in action, students will gain a deeper understanding of sustainable resource cycles and how these ideas can be applied in everyday life.
The goal of this activity is to help students build knowledge through real-world experience, encouraging curiosity, environmental awareness, and community engagement.
Why This Visit Matters
Understanding how composting works is an important step toward learning how natural resource cycles function in our environment. By observing a real composting operation, students can see how organic materials that are often considered waste can be transformed into valuable soil resources.
This experience helps students connect classroom learning with real-world environmental practices. Through observation and hands-on exploration, students begin to understand how small actions, such as separating organic waste and supporting composting, can contribute to a healthier and more sustainable community.
The visit also encourages curiosity, teamwork, and environmental responsibility as students begin the early stages of their Green4Better project.
Green4better after school team meeting
Today after school, the Green 4 Better team stayed to hold a small group discussion and assign responsibilities for our upcoming projects. The upper grade students completed their task planning, and we also began giving sixth grade student opportunities to take the lead in certain areas.
In our team, age is not what defines ability. As long as a student is willing to show up, put in the effort, and take initiative, we are committed to giving them the opportunity to grow. We believe leadership comes from real participation and experience, not simply from grade level.
By working together on projects, students naturally develop communication, teamwork, and problem solving skills. Along the way, they also build confidence and discover their own strengths.
We are also honored to have Dr. Tony Torng, a board member of the Walnut Valley Unified School District, serve as one of our advisors. Moving forward, we plan to invite university professors and professionals with expertise in related project fields to guide and mentor our team.
Green4better Meets with Walnut Valley Water District to Discuss Future Collaboration
Today, the Green 4 Better team held our first meeting at the newly completed Walnut Valley Water District building. During the meeting, we had the opportunity to connect with district representatives and engage in meaningful discussions about potential sustainability initiatives and future collaboration. It was an inspiring and important step forward for our team.
Green 4 Better is a student led initiative focused on environmental awareness, innovation, and real world problem solving. Our mission is to empower students to take initiative, develop leadership skills, and contribute to solutions that positively impact our community.
Following this meeting, our team is now moving from planning into action. We are beginning the development of our first outdoor prototype as we take the next step toward turning ideas into tangible projects.
We also welcome students from our district and from other school districts who share the same passion and vision. If you are interested in leadership, engineering, or hands on sustainability projects, we encourage you to join us. Together, we can learn from one another, grow as leaders, and create meaningful change.
Community Support & Outreach at David & Margaret Youth and Family Services
On February 11, 2026, on behalf of all members of CASA and the Green 4 Better Project Team, we visited David & Margaret Youth and Family Services and donated 75 brand-new bedding sets as a small token of our support.
The campus feels welcoming and thoughtfully organized, and it is clear how much dedication goes into supporting students who need help. We were especially impressed by the on-site supermarket and cafe, where students gain hands-on work experience. It’s not just about providing care. It’s about helping young people build the skills they need to live independently in the future.
We are honored to represent all of our members in making this donation, and we hope our contribution can help make a positive difference.
Thank you to the David & Margaret team for their warm welcome. We look forward to future opportunities to support and collaborate.
Diamond Bar Center Outreach Event
